What professional categories can be used to demonstrate relevant experience (core professions)?

Below you will find, for each category of certificate that you can request through RESCert, the corresponding core profession category or categories. To prove experience by a reference on the company’s CBE [Crossroads Bank for Enterprises] page, the candidate’s name must appear under the ‘Roles’ section.

Flemish Region

In the Flemish Region, the condition of professional eligibility has been removed for all professions since 01/01/2019. If you are registered as a candidate on the company’s CBE page, a reference to a core profession (see table above) under at least one of the following CBE headings is considered relevant experience:

  • Registered entity data
    • Professional skills and basic management knowledge
    • VAT Activities – Nacebel Code
  • Unit details of the establishment
    • Nacebel Code Activities

However, the corporate purpose set out in a company’s articles of association cannot confirm relevant experience.

Additional ways of proving at least one month’s experience are on our webpage under terms and conditions in Flanders

Walloon Region

In the Walloon Region, the condition of professional eligibility is still in force. To apply for certification under Walloon legislation, applicants must meet the following two conditions:

  • Proven ‘professional eligibility’ for a core profession. If you are registered as a candidate on the company CBE page, only a reference under the heading ‘Professional skills and basic management knowledge’ serves as proof of professional eligibility.

If the candidate has not indicated a core trade in the ‘Professional Skills and Basic Management Knowledge’ section, or if the candidate’s name does not appear on the company’s CBE page, the candidate must provide a document demonstrating professional competence in a core profession (for example, a diploma in your name or another document issued by your local business service centre).

  • At least one month of practical experience. If you are registered as a candidate on the company’s CBE page, the reference to a core profession in at least one of the following sections may be regarded as proof of one month’s practical work experience:
    • Registered entity data
      • Professional skills and basic management knowledge
      • VAT Activities – Nacebel Code
    • Unit details of the establishment
      • VAT Activities – Nacebel Code

However, the corporate purpose set out in a company’s articles of association cannot confirm proof of relevant experience.

Note on the Walloon Region: the RESCert certificate for renewable energy system installers does not exempt installers from the obligation to be qualified for the work that they do!

For example, a certified photovoltaic installer who is eligible to carry out roofing and sealing work CANNOT do the electrical work to connect the installation. This work must be carried out by a registered contractor who is officially qualified to do the relevant electrical work. In other words, if the certified PV installer is not qualified, they must subcontract this part of the PV installation to a registered contractor who is. The latter does not have to be a certified photovoltaic installer, as the certified PV installer is ultimately responsible for the whole installation.

Brussels-Capital region

In the Brussels-Capital Region, the condition of professional eligibility is no longer a condition for obtaining a RESCert certificate. If you are registered as a candidate on the company’s CBE page, a reference to a core profession (see table above) under at least one of the following BCE headings is considered relevant experience:

  • Registered entity data
    • Professional skills and basic management knowledge
    • VAT Activities – Nacebel Code
  • Unit details of the establishment
    • Nacebel Code Activities

However, the corporate purpose set out in a company’s articles of association cannot confirm relevant experience.
