Initial certification procedure
Basic training
To apply for a certificate of competence in a particular category, you must first complete a basic training course on the subject at a training centre recognised for this purpose in the relevant region. Click here (link) to view the list of recognised training centres. This certification procedure is available to both Belgian and foreign applicants.
The basic RESCert training provides a comprehensive overview of the sizing, design, installation, maintenance and documentation of an installation. The basic training course takes around four days, before the exams.
You must then pass the relevant exam at a recognised examination centre listed on the same list.
Recognised training courses and examinations are provided by the Flemish Region, the Walloon Region and the Brussels-Capital Region under the European Directives (2009/28/EC and 2023/2413) on renewable energy.
